The Moment

Breaking the cycle of chaos and enjoying the in-between

Hi Reader,

This year has been one big transition period for me. From dealing with a breakup to moving to another state, everything changed at once.

All I really wanted at the beginning of 2024 was for life to return to “normal.”

Of course, normal meant the previous version of my life as I knew it: the people, places, and daily routines I was familiar with. But that wasn’t going to happen.

Now that life has slowed down a little and I’ve created a new normal, I find myself resisting the calm.

Why is it that we crave excitement when things are quiet and long for peace when things are hectic?

I trust that things will make sense at the right time, but it’s hard to deal with that in-between period.

In my latest blog post, I’m sharing more about what this experience has been teaching me about the natural ebbs and flows of life. The theme I'm exploring is how we can make the most of the in-between transition periods without forcing the uncontrollable to be controlled.

Whether you're in the middle of a stressful period or feeling stuck in the lull, this post is for you.

for the moment.

📖 Bodyfulness by Christine Caldwell: I’m currently reading this book about how we can practice mindfulness through our bodies using our senses, breathwork, and playful movement. Perhaps the antidote to getting stuck in our heads is to get back in touch with our bodies.

a moment of bliss.

A moment of bliss is something in your day that you’re savoring or grateful for, no matter how small it might seem.

I live in Cape Town, South Africa which is a city surrounded by the ocean. The water is freezing and my favourite thing is to have an early morning dip. It resets my entire nervous system. I follow that with a strong cup of coffee. It’s the best start to my day.”
