How to find quiet in a noisy world

Hi Reader,

Take a moment to listen to the sounds around you right now. What can you hear?

As I write this newsletter, I can hear garbage cans being rolled around outside, cars driving by, and a neighbor muttering to himself.

There’s always so much going on around us, and noise pollution might be affecting you more than you realize. Everyday sounds can disrupt our health, focus, and ability to truly listen.

On the flip side, silence can do wonders for our brains.

Research suggests that quiet time can boost our memory and help us understand ourselves and the world better.

The trouble is that finding moments of quiet isn’t exactly easy these days.

Even if we do find quiet moments, it can be a bit unsettling. What do we even do with ourselves in that silence, right?

Is there a way to bring more silence into our lives without feeling uneasy and fidgety?

After doing some research, I’ve picked up some tips on how to work moments of silence into your daily routine. Check out this week’s blog post if you need a bit of quiet and calm in your life.

But what if these thoughts are caused by our habitual minds rather than the situations we find ourselves in? Buddhist teacher...

Hi Reader, I mentioned in my last email that I’ve been in a creative rut for the past few years, and I’ve just generally been feeling stuck with where I’m at in life. It feels like I’ve been moving through wet cement, trying to get somewhere but I’m not quite sure where. Late one night, I decided to search on YouTube for the phrase ‘how to transform your life.’ I knew I needed some form of change, but I wasn’t sure what. The younger me would have thought I needed to do something drastic like...

Hi there, You know how people tell you that in order to change your life, you have to do things differently than you usually do? That could bring to mind things that are completely out of your comfort zone, or the feeling that you need to change your entire personality. Well what if you didn’t have to do anything extravagant or risky? What if you just committed to doing the things that you always tell yourself you should do? Things like updating your budget on a regular basis. Getting up when...
