The Moment

When an unexpected diagnosis changed everything

Hi Reader,

I’m writing this email to you from my couch, watching the leaves swaying outside on a beautiful, sunny day. I wish you could hear the sweet little chirping birds right now.

Over a year ago, I didn’t even know this could be my reality. I was in a completely different place mentally, physically, and emotionally.

In October of 2024, I received abnormal results from a routine health check. Those results led to what felt like never-ending fear, hypervigilance, and physical pain.

A few days after receiving the results, I wrote in my journal:

I do not know how to not worry about a health-related issue. My rational mind can say it’s probably nothing, but the rest of me goes into doom thinking.

Writing about this particular topic makes me feel slightly uneasy because it’s so personal, but I also think it’s important to bring light to the things no one ever openly talks about.

And from what I’ve learned, facing the things that scare you will eventually give them less power over you.

I've been writing this blog series in my head for a long time. This is where it first begins.

Thanks for reading,

P.S. On a lighter note, I started reading ‘Funny Story’ by Emily Henry last night because I realized I needed a break from reading psychology books. Sometimes a light and easy read is exactly what the soul needs.

The Moment

I write about the deeper things I’ve had to (un)learn to let go of who I thought I should be and reconnect with who I really am. Follow the current series on how health anxiety took over my life (and how I got to the other side).
